This Place Matters
In 2008 the National Trust for Historic Preservation introduced their "Preservation Month" with a new twist on an old theme. Their new campaign, "This Place Matters" is designed to help people share the places that matter to them, wherever these places happen to be. By simply printing a sign and taking a picture, you can tell the story about a place that matters to you. Below we apply this philosophy to central Virginian places that matter. We encourage anyone to submit photos of themselves in front of historic structures they love. To participate, download the sign that reads "This Place Matters." Photograph yourself, or a friend, in front of a beloved site. Then email the photograph, along with a caption (make sure you identify the location!) to "preservationpiedmont@gmail.com."
